The Role of Active Speed Limiters in Building Safer Roads – and Safer Rides to School

In a recent School Transportation Newsarticle, LifeSafer President Michael Travars joined other vehicle safety technology leaders to highlight outstanding results from Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) pilot programs in Washington, D.C., New York City, and London. These programs have validated the effectiveness of ISA in decreasing excessive speed and increasing road safety – including in school buses.

The feedback was clear: “The drivers loved it,” Travars relayed. “One of them told me, ‘I know my vehicle will go the speed limit, so I can pay attention to the kids.’ That’s the whole point.”

In addition to partnering with D.C. traffic safety officials to equip school buses with ISA technology, LifeSafer is working with other cities across the U.S. as part of their Vision Zero goals in a safer systems approach to reduce traffic fatalities.

This is the kind of real-world impact LifeSafer ISA is proud to be a part of – using technology to create safer roads and better protect students nationwide.
